The Global Health Beat Online/ID TestTech BLOG COMPETITION
The Global Health Beat Online, the online blog of the intercollegiate global health journal The Global Health Beat,is partnering with the new UAID technology blog ID TestTech to bring you their first annual blog competition. Are you interested in learning more about a specific topic? Do you like writing, or are you passionate about advocating for or educating others about some area of global health? If so, consider submitting a blog post or making a video about it! The winning piece will be the one that accrues the most “shares” from our official UAID Facebook page, with, as the grand prize, a Kindle Fire being awarded to its author. Furthermore, the winner of the competition will be publicized on our home page banner and all blogs will have the opportunity to be published in The Global Health Beat, the premier undergraduate infectious disease journal!

The Global Health Beat Onlinesupplements the printed content available in the bi-annual issues of The Global Health Beat. Because the Internet provides a means for a much more immediate dissemination of breaking news and time-sensitive information, this outlet provides yet another way for you to stay up-to-date on the latest in global health.
ID TestTech is dedicated to the technological side of IDs: How is technology employed in testing and treating IDs? What advancements are on the brink right now? And beyond that, what does the future hold? We answer these questions and more through our coverage of news, research, and opinions on everything from patents to patients to breakthroughs and governmental involvement.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Articles/Blog Posts
- Write a 300-500-word blog post on the topic of your choosing.
- Include links and/or citations for all resources used in the process of writing your post.
- Links: Include for all websites and online news articles
- Citations: Include for
- Printed periodicals
- Printed books
- Printed professional journals
- Online journal articles that cannot be reached without a university proxy
- Include one picture and the link for the website at which you found the picture.
- Feel free to make your articles personal by including an applicable story, a striking quote from an interview, or anything else that really makes the article yours. At the same time, though, realize that we’re looking for insightful, intelligent, and polished writing.
- Submit articles to Nate Wood, the UAID Director of Journalism and Advocacy, via email (nate@uaidintl.org) by 11:59 PM on April 4, 2013.
Videos and Other Multimedia
- Produce your video or other multimedia — which should be 1-2 minutes, if a video — on the topic of your choosing.
- Additionally create a Microsoft Word or PDF file that includes links and/or citations for all resources used in the process of producing your video or other multimedia.
- Links: Include for all websites and online news articles
- Citations: Include for

- Though we’re definitely looking for creativity, be sure to make your topic of choice pointed, relevant, and professional.
